Pumphouse is a Minneapolis staple that is a must visit for all those living in or visiting Minneapolis. It's in a great location between 47th and 48th st on Chicago Ave, most if not all of the ingredients are locally sourced, the employees are accommodating & fast to serve, and most important of all; the ice cream is delicious. Whether it's a milkshake or ice cream cone you're craving, make sure it's Pumphouse you visit to get it.
Try the five mini scoop sampler - too many good choices to choose just one flavor. Best place for malteds.
Pumphouse Creamery makes the most delicious organic and local ice cream around! They list allergens on their website, such as gluten-free, soy-free, peanut-free and dairy-free. Try the Lemon Olive Oil - it may sound weird, but it's the BEST! During the shutdown they are still taking orders online to be picked up, and have walk-up service to purchase your favorites in pint-sized containers in person too.
This place had some of the best ice cream I've ever had! They were super busy and the guys scooping were crushing it too. Very unique waffle cones that were likely the healthiest I've ever had. Organic wheat, flax seed chia seed, and hemp seed....what?!! Yep, not too sweet which I really liked as well. This place has very thoughtfully source ingredients a lot of them organic (which I really appreciate). I 100% support businesses like this and thanks to the owner!
Interesting flavors. Everything natural and organic. They share where the milk comes from. Quick service. 1 scoop over $4.
Pumphouse has excellent flavors & the staff are phenomenal. They never make me feel rushed even in the presence of a long line. This is in my top 3 ice cream shops in the cities. The cons are that the ice cream occasionally has an icy texture instead of creamy and I think the cones are quite terrible.
Great service, amazing product! Love that they source local ingredients too!
Great south Minneapolis dessert destination. Ice Cream is always fresh and out of this world flavor. Large selection of classics like vanilla, chocolate and mint chocolate chip plus a nice variety of unique and delicious flavors. Would highly recommend.
In a chilly December evening, a pleasant and really yummy Cardamom Candied Orange Peel ice cream. Perfect for Christmas season.
Deliciously creamy and constantly rotating flavors. Definitely suggest taking a risk on some of their more unique flavors! Even with far fewer flavor options they have the best non-dairy ice cream I've ever had.
So many creative flavors!
A nice, varied and unique selection of ice creams in a great shopfront on a quaint corner of south Minneapolis. Un crowded, unpretentiousness and just plain nice. Recommended.
Thank you for making such great dairy free options! Also, thank you for taking public health crisis so seriously! Appreciate tha ability order online and pick up at the door without having to go into the store!!!
This place is awesome. One of the best places to get some ice cream. The owner was incredibly friendly and let my family and I try a bunch of things. Try the fresh Colorado peach and any of the three vanilla bean flavored ice creams. We wi definitely be back! Highly recommend.
High quality ingredients and the most original flavors around. Buckwheat honey was the first flavor that won my heart.
Great local ice cream. The rhubarb is amazing. They also have very tasty dairy free ice cream. And an amazing grapefruit sorbet, but it's not sweet.
The sea salt praline is ALWAYS a hit. My daughter got the peppermint bark. The perfect place to get an ice cream treat.
We always have a freezer full of this ice cream. Delicious!
A great local shop, and admirable customer service. I just wish it was a little less expensive.
Really great dairy free options that are full of flavor. Awesome pick up service with contact free dining. Highly recommend stopping for unique ice cream options in South Minneapolis.
Quaint, cute little shop! There's not much room inside, so I imagine it gets very busy on hot days. I managed to sample several of their flavors since I arrived about 30 minutes before closing. Most of them were kind of grainy, which is a sign of ice crystals in the ice cream implying a lower fat content, which was fine with me. The flavors are all surprisingly strong - the fresh fruits in particular were almost shocking with how much they tasted like fruit! They say the rhubarb is their most popular flavor, and I believe it. Their sugar cones must be made from some kind of unconventional flour, because they weren't as sweet as I was expecting and definitely had some pieces of grains in them. Perhaps they're whole wheat? I didn't think to ask. All in all, the workers were polite and accommodating, and the price was good for two single scoops. Next time I'll try a malt or sundae!
Yummiest ice cream. Lovely flavors.❤😍😊😉😀
Yummy vegan flavors...tried and loved them all!
We absolutely love having this shop in our neighborhood. The owner is very in tune with every ingredient that goes into the ice cream. We enjoy coming here to get the pup cups for our dog. She freaking loves them! Spring summer winter or fall, you have to come visit this place. If you are going to watch a movie at the newly renovated parkway movie theatre I highly recommend coming here right before for a sweet treat.
Wonderful place. Great ice cream (also Special Kind for Dogs), friendly staff and good Service. Highly recommended!
Allergic to dairy? No worries. Everything with dairy and gluten is labeled. If you have questions they are happy to assist. It's a small space but it moves fairly quickly. The earl grey is unique. Most are for that matter but all taste great!
An excellent mix of flavors... one of the best, if not the best ice cream I have had in recent times... It beats all the popular ice cream brands where sugary/fake sweetness has taken away actual flavor. I believe I buy ice cream for the flavor! I got exactly what I paid for. Thank you!
Absolutely delicious, glad I can bring my lactose free friends aswell!
Small little ice cream shop with a large variety of flavors. Only one table inside- so don't expect a place to sit and visit. I had an ice cream sandwhich and it was delicious!
Amazing fresh ice cream. The banana flavor is my favorite in the Twin cities.
Kids approved so many choices ended up with a pint of Madagascar vanilla and it was definitely the right choice. Go check it out for yourself.
It doesn't get the notoriety of Sebastian Joe's in Minneapolis, but their ice cream is the best in the city.
I love the selection that they offer! Everything is good, no wrong choices.. which makes it so hard to choose.
We’ve been here before and the ice cream is really good. They have unusual flavors, but they are all tasty. This last time I had the blackberry crisp and it was so good with bits of blackberry and crispy oatmeal topping.
Extremely overpriced ice cream. Dairy free pints were rock hard and didn't soften well. Flavors were bland. Pumpkin was really terrible.
This place is great, and they should feel great.Get in here and get some fresh-made ice cream.
Mmm, flavors rotate , but if they are there, don't miss the coconut almond ice cream and the strawberry. The five scoop sampler (mini scoops) is a great way to try everything.
Friendly staff their yesterday. Nice assortment of flavors. The egg nog and gingerbread ice creams were both very flavorful, but not over powering and were great together in a cone. The black raspberry crumble was good, but could have used just a little more raspberry.I suspect we will go back. It was a little more expensive than I expected.
Incredibly friendly service and tasty home made ice cream! We’ll be back soon.
One of the best Raspberry flavored icecream I have ever had.
Great service and amazing vegan flavors!!! So many options to choose from, and very original😋👍
Best ice cream in the area. Sea Salt, Carmel, Praline Pecans is the best in the USA. This is a must stop lication. All product is made in this small, quaint shop.
Much prefer the real flavors of Pumphouse Creamery over Grand Ole Creamery or Izzy's. Try the Salty Peanut Butter with Chocolate Chips (the chocolate chips are soft, not hard). My close second is the Lemon Infused Olive Oil with Sea Salt. Oh, and the waffle cones are made with hearty grains!
Local ice cream gem. Has lots of no sugar options, too, for those of you who are concerned about this. Always seems to have a lot of new options, always has friendly staff. Can be hard to find a place to sit down, as there in only one table inside and maybe two benches outside. But hey... Get some steps in, enjoy the neighborhood and work off .0001% of the calories you just consumed.
Super good ice cream. I got the Door County Cherry and it was amazing! They have great homemade waffle cones too. The only downside is the cost. It's a bit pricey but for us well worth the money for a treat. We'll be back!
Delicious and a decent amount of vegan ice cream options.
Had the pleasure of stopping into Pumphouse today. The owner is super nice and the flavors of ice cream are phenomenal. I highly recommend stopping in if you're in the area.
Simply the best. Simple, clean, delicious ingredients. Smooth, creamy texture. Warm service. Fun corner to stroll. Go before dinner!
9:30 pm on the summer solstice at a great neighborhood establishment. Always adventuresome flavors from local providers, as well as the good old standards.
Best local spot for real ice cream, seasonal flavors too!
